“Look,” William growled. “I want to know who, and what you are. I don’t know what you’re up to, but when you brought my daughter into this, you made me a part of your world. Now answer the question. Who and what are you?” William clenched his teeth, exposing razor sharp incisors; his muscles were coiled, and ready to strike. Chrissie had always heard that fathers overreact when it comes to their daughters. Under different circumstances, she would have been pleased.

Dylan’s narrowed his eyes. They turned the most terrifying shade of green. In a flash, he sprang from the chair, flipped in midair, and landed atop William’s desk, all within a split second. Chrissie gasped as she finally accepted Dylan was something more than human, but what? He wasn't a vampire, and she didn't know of another creature with such speed and agility.

Chrissie’s father and the Professor reacted in concert. William whirled and prepared to spring, while the Professor leaped toward Dylan from across the room. Before either could complete their movement, Dylan spiraled through the air and stood behind the Professor. The blazing green of his irises were now encased in glowing red embers.
